Coming up: History News This Week - Episode: 002
Namaste Friends. My name is 'Shinil Subramanian Payamal' and you are listening to the Historylogy podcast.
Welcome to the 2nd episode of History News This Week.
First is a news article titled ‘What happened to the missing passengers of the Titanic? As eerie new photos show shoes left in the wreckage, experts reveal to MailOnline where the 1,160 are likely to be’ by Jonathan Chadwick.
More than 1,500 people – around 70 per cent of the passengers onboard – tragically perished after the Titanic hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic in April 1912.
But the bodies of around 1,160 passengers were never found.
So, what happened to them?
Second is this brilliant article I came across on HistoryToday.com titled ‘A Secret History of Mongolian Wolves’ by Kenneth Linden.
With a subheadline which reads:
Mongolians have always lived with wolves. During the imperial era, the relationship was an ambiguous one. Under socialism, it became existential.
The third news article titled ‘Archaeologists Discover Roman Camps in Jordan That May Indicate a Secret Military Invasion’ by Teresa Nowakowski should interest you if you are into Roman history.
If you are still in ‘Coronation’ mood, the fourth article titled ‘How the long tradition of coronations has evolved’ should definitely interest you.
Coming to the latest book release, it’s is author Manoj Dani’s second book titled ‘अज्ञात पानिपत’ which is first coming out in Marathi in June, 2023 and the English version will come out sometime later. The printed price of the book is Rs. 1,300/- but is currently available for pre-order for only Rs. 900/-. I will post a link to the author’s facebook page where more info about the book and mode of payments is mentioned. Please feel free to check it out.
History podcast recommendation of the week:
‘Empire Podcast’ by William Dalrymple and Anita Anand is this week's recommendation.
I will provide links to all the news items, Facebook page containing details of the book by Manoj Dani and the ‘Empire Podcast’ on Apple Podcasts in the show notes. Please feel free to check them out.
